NexTier - Robert Drummond

Robert Drummond

President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Drummond joined NexTier as President and Chief Executive Officer in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. Prior to joining Keane, Mr. Drummond served as the President & Chief Executive Officer of Key Energy Services, Inc. and served for more than 30 years at Schlumberger Limited in various executive positions, including President of North America, Vice President & General Manager U.S. Land, Vice President of Global Sales, Vice President General Manager U.S. Gulf of Mexico, and President North American Offshore and Alaska.

Mr. Drummond has been a Supervisory Director at Frank’s International N.V. since May 2017, and sits on the board of directors of the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association and the advisory board for the University of Alabama College of Engineering. He has previously served on the board of directors of the National Ocean Industries Association, the Houston Offshore Energy Center, the Greater Houston Partnership, the API Upstream Committee, and as an Advisory Board Member of the University of Houston Global Energy Management Institute. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alabama.

NexTier - Jan Kees van Gaalen

Jan Kees van Gaalen

Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Mr. van Gaalen joined NexTier as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in October 2019 as part of our merger with C&J Energy Services, Inc. (“C&J”). He joined C&J as Chief Financial Officer in September 2018. He is a seasoned, strategic financial executive with more than 35 years of global experience in business analytics, treasury, audit, business development and commercial management.

Mr. van Gaalen served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Kennametal, Inc. from September 2015 until joining C&J. Prior to joining Kennametal, Inc., he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Dresser-Rand Group, Inc. from April 2013 to July 2015. He previously served as Vice President and Treasurer for Baker Hughes, Inc. from January 2008 to April 2013, as well as Vice President – Finance and Chief Financial Officer for PT Vale Inco TBK (formerly PT Inco TBK) in Jakarta, Indonesia from 2004 to 2008.

Mr. van Gaalen holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands and a Master of Business Administration degree from the HEC Management School in France.

 

NexTier - Gregory L. Powell

Greg Powell

Executive Vice President & Chief Integration Officer

Mr. Powell joined NexTier as Executive Vice President and Chief Integration Officer in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane in March 2011 as President and Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining Keane, Mr. Powell worked as an Operating Executive for Cerberus Capital Management L.P. During his tenure, he was responsible for partnering with portfolio companies to maximize value creation. Mr. Powell has worked across a broad set of businesses including: automotive, consumer products, technology, leasing, building products, and retail. Prior to joining Cerberus, Greg worked for 10 years in various divisions of General Electric. In his last role with GE, he was the Chief Financial Officer for GE Aviation – Military Systems.

NexTier - Kevin McDonald

Kevin McDonald

Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel

Mr. McDonald joined NexTier as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane as Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary in November 2016. 

Prior to joining Keane, Mr. McDonald served in leadership roles at Marathon Oil Corporation from 2012 to 2016, including as Deputy General Counsel of Corporate Legal Services and Government Relations, Deputy General Counsel of Governance, Compliance & Corporate Services, and Assistant General Counsel.

Mr. McDonald practiced as a partner at the international law firm Fulbright & Jaworski LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright LLP) in 2012. Mr. McDonald previously held various counsel positions, including President & Chief Executive Officer and acting General Counsel at Arms of Hope, a nonprofit organization, from 2008 to 2012, Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Cooper Industries from 2006 to 2008, Associate General Counsel at Anadarko Petroleum from 2006 to 2008, and Managing Counsel (Litigation) at Valero Energy from 2002 to 2004.

He began his career as an associate at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP between 1992 and 2001. Mr. McDonald graduated with a BS from Texas A&M University and JD from the University of Texas School of Law.

Mr. Henkes joined NexTier as Senior Vice President for Operations in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane in February 2016 and was Vice President of South Region at the time of the merger.

Prior to joining Keane, he served as Human Resources Manager for Schlumberger’s Drilling & Measurements global businesses from August 2014 to February 2016, as Vice President for North America at Pathfinder Energy Services from January 2013 to September 2014, and as Personnel Manager at Pathfinder Energy Services from September 2012 to December 2012. Prior to joining Pathfinder Energy Services, Mr. Henkes worked in various field, operations, sales, management, and HR positions around the world from 1994 to 2012. Mr. Henkes has extensive experience in wireline, logging while drilling, and directional drilling operations in North America, Latin America, and northern Europe.

Mr. Driver joined NexTier as Senior Vice President, Product Lines in October 2019 as part of our merger with C&J Energy Services, Inc. (“C&J”). He served  with C&J as President – Well Construction, Intervention and Completion Services, leading both C&J’s Well Construction and Intervention Services division and Completion Services division from May 2018 until the merger. He previously led C&J’s fracturing business as Senior Vice President – Fracturing beginning in October 2012 . Mr. Driver joined C&J in August 2007 as Vice President – Fracturing, a position he held through October 2012. Throughout his tenure at C&J, he was been instrumental in overseeing the operational growth and success of C&J’s hydraulic fracturing business.

Mr. Driver has nearly 30 years of experience in the oilfield services industry. Prior to joining C&J, he worked for Halliburton in multiple roles, including equipment operator, service supervisor, field service quality coordinator, operations manager and camp manager from August 1990 to August 2007.

Mr. Vaclavik joined NexTier as Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane as Chief Commercial Officer in January 2019.

Mr. Vaclavik brings a wealth of oil & gas experience to our company. He has been in the oil & gas industry for over 35 years and was most recently the Vice-President of US Geozone for Weatherford. Previously, Richard has held executive leadership positions with Roywell as CEO, Baker Hughes as Vice President of North America Pressure Pumping and Halliburton as Northeast Area Vice President, Region Vice President Gulf of Mexico, and Vice President of Business Development. He has a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Mr. Keppler joined NexTier as Senior Vice President, Operations & Shared Services in October 2019 as part of our merger with C&J Energy Services, Inc. (“C&J”). He served with C&J as President – Corporate Operational Development, a position he held from October 2016 until the merger. He is responsible for structural and tactical operational issues across all of our service lines to provide strategic direction and support through the development of standards, processes, and systems to increase efficiency and quality for our operations.

Mr. Keppler previously served as President – Drilling and Completion Services of C&J from March 2015 through October 2016, and he served as Senior Vice President – Corporate Oilfield Operations at C&J prior to that from July 2013.

Mr. Keppler first joined C&J when it acquired a wireline and pumping business, Casedhole Solutions, in June 2012. He served as C&J’s Senior Vice President – Wireline and Pumping from October 2012 through July 2013, having joined Casedhole Solutions as its Vice President and General Manager for the Northern region in May 2010.

Prior to joining Casedhole Solutions, Mr. Keppler was employed by Schlumberger from 1991 through 2010, where he gained significant wireline experience in the North American market with extensive expertise in cased-hole operations, perforating, open-hole logging, and wellbore formation sampling. While employed by Schlumberger, Mr. Keppler held numerous key management positions, including wireline district manager in six different locations, regional operations manager for the state of Alaska, Engineering Sustaining Manager and Cased-Hole Service Delivery Manager for the U.S. His last position before joining Casedhole Solutions was Global Wireline Technical Support Manager for Weatherford.

Mr. Keppler graduated from New Mexico State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Lafferty joined NexTier as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology and Innovation Officer in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane as Chief Technology and Transformation Officer in May 2019.

Mr. Lafferty brings over 29 years of Oil & Gas engineering and technology experience to our company. He started his career with Schlumberger as an offshore engineer and held a variety of leadership roles in offshore, onshore, technology and Research & Development. Ted’s last two roles with Schlumberger were as Vice President of the China Production Group and as Chief Technologist for Production Management HQ. He has worked all over the world in North America, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. Most recently he has been working as an Executive Advisor and Business Consultant for Cynosure Strategy Consultants. Ted has a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Mr. Renshaw joined NexTier as Senior Vice President, Well Services in October 2019 as part of our merger with C&J Energy Services, Inc. (“C&J”). He previously served as President of C&J’s Well Support Services division, a position he held since August 2017. He first joined C&J in March 2015 as Senior Vice President, Operations for the Well Support Services Northwest region when C&J combined with the completion and production services business of Nabors Industries Ltd.

Mr. Renshaw has more than 30 years of industry experience, dealing with all aspects of well support services. He first joined Pool Well Services, which was subsequently acquired by Nabors and then C&J, in 1988. Since then, he has held numerous operational and management positions of increasing responsibility.

Mr. Heaton joined NexTier as Vice President of Human Resources in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane as Vice President of Human Resources in June 2018.

Mr. Heaton holds a B.S. in Human Resources Management from Auburn University and has his SPHR & SHRM-SCP certification. Chuck has 30 years of human resources experience and started his career with Shaw Industries in Corporate Recruiting. In his 23 year experience in the Oil & Gas industry, he has held a variety of regional & global leadership positions with companies such as Pennzoil, Intertek, Dresser, GE Oil & Gas and FMC Technologies. Chuck was most recently the Vice President of Human Resources & Communication-North America for TechnipFMC.

Mr. Heaton has a passion for HR and extensive experience in the fields of employee engagement, talent pipeline, organizational design and development, labor relations and integrations.

Mr. Lewis joined NexTier as Vice President of Hydraulic Fracturing in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane as Vice President of HSE Operations & Compliance in February 2019.

Mr. Lewis brings over 16 years of oilfield services experience and 26 years of leadership experience to this role. He started his career as non-commissioned officer in the US Army infantry for 10 years and then joined Schlumberger in 2003 leading hydraulic fracturing crews in Wyoming. John then joined Diamondback in 2007 to start their pressure pumping business and then they acquired Superior Well Services in 2009. John started as their Stimulation Services Manager then as a District Operations Manager in the Barnett and Eagleford shale districts.

Nabors acquired Superior in 2010 and John became a Regional Operations Manager/Director-Completions & Production Services for the Eagleford & Permian Basin. He then joined Baker Hughes in 2011 as the Geo Market Operations Director for six operations’ facilities which supported three different product lines. In 2016, he was asked to become the Director of QHSE for Pressure Pumping in North America.

In his previous role before joining Keane, Mr. Lewis was asked in 2017 to become the Director of HSE Global Operations in North America as part of the new BHGE (Baker Hughes-General Electric). He led a team of over 70 HSE, transportation & compliance professionals supporting all operations in the North American portfolio.

Mr. Soliman joined NexTier as Vice President of Integrated Wireline in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane as Vice President of Wireline in January 2018. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University. He started his career with Schlumberger as a Wireline Field engineer, working in different basins in the US.

In 2009, he began his international venture in Egypt serving as the QHSE manager for ThyssenKrupp. In 2010, he moved to Libya with Camco, managing their sales team. He returned back to the US, when things got unstable in Libya, to start his journey with Weatherford in the beginning of 2011. He held several positions with WFT, including Ops Manager, Area Operations Excellence Manager, Area Operations Manager, before going back overseas as Wireline Country Manager for Saudi Arabia. His last role with WFT was – Geozone Manager, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Mr. Soliman brings almost 20 years of extensive domestic and international experience in Wireline, Slickline, Testing, and Production Optimization.

Mr. Miller joined NexTier as Vice President for Cementing and Coiled Tubing in October 2019 as part of our merger with C&J Energy Services, Inc. (“C&J”). He joined C&J in September 2017 and served as Vice President of Operations at the time of the merger.

Mr. Miller brings with him more than 35 years of experience in the oilfield services industry. Prior to joining C&J, he worked for Schlumberger for 34 years in Operations Management and Business Development, managing, Frac, Cement and Coil Tubing operations in US Land and Alaska. In addition to his time in the US, he spent 16 years living and managing Schlumberger operations in, Scotland, Norway, Middle East, India, Pakistan, Russia and Kazakhstan where he managed the Chevron Tengiz project for 3 years.

Just before moving to C&J Mr. Miller spent a year working for Micro Seismic in the Permian basin, assisting clients with Real Time Frac monitoring at the well site, to optimize their operations.

Mr. Bennett joined NexTier as Vice President for Permian Basin Operations in October 2019 as part of our merger with C&J Energy Services, Inc. (“C&J”). He joined C&J in April 2008 and served as Senior Vice President and General Manger – Fracturing at the time of the merger.

Before this position he was VP – Fracturing Operations from December 2016 until May 2018.  Jared served as Regional Manager – Fracturing in West Texas from March 2013 until December 2016.  Jared joined C&J in April 2008 and held various positions in engineering management, operations management, and business development prior to his role as Regional Manager.  Before joining C&J, Jared worked for Halliburton as a field engineer from July 2006 until he joined C&J.  Jared received his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Texas in Austin in May 2006.

Mr. Balez joined NexTier as Vice President for Central Region Operations in October 2019 as part of our merger with C&J Energy Services, Inc. (“C&J”). He joined C&J in September 2012 and served as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Wireline & Pumpdown at the time of the merger.

Previously at C&J Mr. Balez has served as Vice President of Operations – Wireline, Vice President of Sales – Wireline & Pumpdown, and Account Manager. Before joining C&J, he worked for Schlumberger, ThruBit, and Spectraseis in various Operations roles. Mr. Balez holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin.

Mr. Hall joined NexTier as Vice President of Northeast Region Operations in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. He joined Keane as Vice President of East Operations in 2017.

Prior to that Mr. Hall spent 33 years in his career with Schlumberger. Initially, he started as a Wireline field engineer and held numerous positions in most of the US basins. Later he took the role of WL Marketing Manager for the Americas and then WL Operations Manager in Qatar. He held several global roles, such as Lean Implementation Manager, in Paris before returning to two Region VP roles in the US. Mr. Hall earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and holds an MBA from the Freeman Business school at Tulane University.

Mr. Crum joined NexTier as Director of West Region Operations in October 2019 as part of our merger with Keane Group, Inc. Prior to that he he served as Director – North Region for Keane since December 2018.

Mr. Crum was promoted to this role from the position of Sales Manager – North Region, having grown his career at Keane following the acquisition of RockPile Energy Services in July 2017. During his time at RockPile, Mr. Crum served as District Engineer and later Sales Manager over a period from 2013 to 2017. He began his work in oilfield services at Schlumberger, where he served as a Field Engineer in the Williston Basin. Mr. Crum graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
